Pro-Tek™ Wall Panel Care & Maintenance Guide

Wall Panel Maintenance

Maximum Style, Minimum Effort

One of the primary benefits of choosing Pro-Tek™ SPC Wall Panels over traditional tiling is the significant reduction in cleaning time. Our panels are engineered with a high-gloss, non-porous surface and built-in anti-fungal protection, meaning they actively repel the soap scum, mould, and grime that typically plague bathrooms.

To keep your panels looking showroom-fresh for decades, simply follow this easy wall panel maintenance guide.

1. Routine Cleaning

For day-to-day cleaning, simplicity is key. You do not need harsh chemicals to maintain the hygienic surface of your panels.

  • The Method: Simply wipe the panels down with a soft, non-abrasive cloth or sponge using warm water and a mild, neutral detergent (such as standard washing-up liquid).
  • Rinsing: For shower areas, a quick rinse with the shower head after use will prevent soap residue from drying on the high-gloss finish.
  • Drying: To achieve a streak-free shine—especially on our High Gloss Marble collections—buff the surface dry with a soft microfibre cloth.

2. Caring for Authentic Grout Lines

If you have chosen our Double Tile or Multi Tile collections, you will have authentic milled grout lines on your panels.

Unlike traditional cement grout, which is porous and absorbs dirt, our milled lines are part of the waterproof SPC core. They do not require scrubbing with a toothbrush or bleaching. A standard wipe-down during your routine cleaning is sufficient to remove any settled dust or moisture from the textured lines.

3. Stubborn Marks & Stains

Accidents happen, especially in busy kitchens or family bathrooms.

  • Ink or Dye: If hair dye, ink, or other staining agents come into contact with the panel, wipe them up immediately.
  • Grease: For kitchen splashbacks, undiluted washing-up liquid is usually effective at cutting through cooking grease.
  • Limescale: In hard water areas, use a mild, non-abrasive bathroom cleaner designed for acrylic or plastic surfaces.

4. What to Avoid (Important)

To protect the high-gloss wear layer and the structural integrity of your panels, please avoid the following:

  • Abrasive Cleaners: Never use scouring powders, cream cleaners with grit, wire wool, or scouring pads (the rough green side of a sponge). These will dull the gloss finish and create microscopic scratches where dirt can accumulate.
  • Bleach & Solvents: Avoid undiluted bleach, acetone (nail varnish remover), or strong solvents, as these can damage the surface print over time.
  • Steam Cleaners: We do not recommend the use of steam cleaners directly on the panels, as the intense concentrated heat can affect the adhesive bond or silicone seals.

5. Silicone Maintenance

While the Pro-Tek™ panels themselves are anti-fungal and rot-proof, the silicone sealant used at the joints and corners requires standard care.

  • Ensure the room is well-ventilated to prevent mould growth on surface silicone.
  • Inspect the silicone seals annually to ensure they remain watertight. If the silicone begins to peel or degrade, remove and replace it to maintain the waterproof integrity of your installation.
