Product Information
What are Pro-Tek™ Wall Panels made of?
Our panels are constructed with a solid Stone-Plastic Composite (SPC) core. This is a limestone-based material that makes the panel incredibly rigid, durable, and 100% waterproof. Unlike cheaper PVC panels which are often hollow, our SPC core provides a solid feel similar to real stone or tile.
Are they really 100% waterproof?
Yes. The SPC core is completely impervious to water, making Pro-Tek™ panels the ideal solution for high-moisture environments such as walk-in showers, wet rooms, and family bathrooms.
Do the grout lines mould like real tiles?
No. This is one of the biggest benefits of our system. Our authentic grout lines are milled directly into the waterproof surface of the panel. Because they are non-porous, they do not absorb water or soap scum, meaning they will never discolour, crumble, or grow black mould like traditional cement grout.
Can I use them in the kitchen?
Yes, Pro-Tek™ panels make stunning kitchen splashbacks. They are resistant to steam and cooking splashes. For cleaning grease, simple washing-up liquid is usually sufficient. Please note: If installing behind a gas hob, we recommend installing a clear toughened glass splashback directly behind the flame source to protect the panel from direct open fire.
How do I clean my panels?
Just use warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive scrubbers or harsh bleach, as they can dull the protective wear layer over time.
How do they differ from PVC Panels?
Standard PVC panels are often hollow or flexible. SPC panels are solid, much heavier, and significantly more impact-resistant.
Can I hang shelves or mirrors on them?
Yes, but you shouldn’t rely on the panel alone to hold the weight. You should drill through the panel into the wall studs or masonry behind it to ensure the fixture is secure.
Installation
Can I install panels over my old tiles?
No, we would recommend that the tiles be removed prior to the installation of the panels and to ensure that the wall is a flat surface to ensure there are no imperfections.
How are the panels fixed to the wall?
We recommend using a high-strength grab adhesive (Stixall is tried and tested and available on the site). The adhesive is applied to the back of the panel before it is pressed firmly onto the wall. For wet areas, you will need to make sure you leave an gap around the base of the panels to silicone when finishing off the job.
How do I cut the panels?
Despite being rigid and durable, SPC panels are surprisingly easy to work with. You can use a standard fine-tooth saw, a jigsaw, or a sharp utility knife (using the score-and-snap method) to achieve clean straight cuts.
Do I need professional installation?
While many customers choose to use a professional joiner or bathroom fitter, the system is designed to be DIY-friendly. If you are competent with basic tools (measuring tape, spirit level, saw, and adhesive gun), you can achieve a professional finish yourself. Please note that this requires a 2 person installation.
Sizes & Samples
What size are the panels?
Our standard panels are 2800mm in height. This extra length is designed to cover floor-to-ceiling spans in most standard UK homes without needing a horizontal join.
Do you offer samples?
Yes, we provide a free sample service. We highly recommend ordering a sample so you can see the high-gloss finish and feel the texture of the milled grout lines in your own home before placing a full order.
